Preserving the past means preserving the identity of a place. A local resident wanted to clean the local memorial war, now covered in dirt, weeds, and a derelict fence. She advertised the project in the local parish magazine and nine people came forward. The team brought their gardening tools and paint brushes and approached the local hardware shop for paint, buckets and cleaning brushes. The council gave permission to undertake the project. A refreshed memorial took three hours to prepare for and for hours to complete.
